The varsity baseball Sabers, led by Coach Steve Haskell, were in action on Saturday at NYSEG Stadium participating in the NYS Regional Class B Championship.  A great SV crowd was on hand to witness a hard fought 4-1 Sabers victory over the Section 3 team from Skaneletes HS.  With the BIG 'W' the team earned the right to participate in the 2019 NYS Final 4 Championships this coming weekend.  The team will play a Section 11 team (from the Long Island area) Center Moriches on Friday evening at Broome Community College with the first pitch scheduled for 5:00pm.  If, or should I say when, the team wins on Friday (fingers, legs, toes crossed!!) they would participate in the NYS Class B Championship game on Saturday at Binghamton University at 1:00pm.
Track and Field
Jahreed Isles, along with coaches Courtney Marris, Gianni Cordisco and Colin Staiger, attended the 2019 NYS Track and Field meet in Middletown, NY
.  Jahreed took 3rd place in the 'small schools' meet in the triple jump.  Jahreed broke his own school record with a jump of 46' 4".  This impressive effort was good enough to earn him a spot in the Federation Meet, where Jahreed continued to represent SV in a very respectable manner jumping 46' .25" to earn a 5th place finish in the event.  Please join me in congratulating Jahreed and his coaches for an amazing weekend and season!
Congratulations on a great season for senior Saber tennis players, Mason Spottek and Cody Jacobs, and their coach Anthony Ruffo.  The young men represented SV at the NYS tennis tournament yesterday in New York City.  The team dropped its first two matches of the day, but in no way does that overshadow the fact these two quality young men have had amazing tennis careers here at Susquehanna Valley.  We are very proud of their efforts and wish them the best of luck as they move forward.

Varsity Awards Banquet
Finally, the 2019 Susquehanna Valley Varsity Athletic Awards Ceremony will take place this coming Wednesday night in the SV HS auditorium at 6:00pm.  The evening will begin at 5:00pm with a reception provided by the SV All-Sports Booster Club.  We have MUCH to celebrate this year!  It is, as always, GREAT to be a SABER!!
