SV begins school year under new leadership

The Susquehanna Valley School District begins the 2022-2023 school year under new administrative leadership. With the retirement of Mr. Roland Doig, the SV Board of Education quickly and unanimously approved the appointment of Mrs. Natalie Brubaker as our new superintendent. After an extensive search for Mrs. Brubaker's replacement as Assistant Superintendent, the Board unanimously approved the appointment of Ms. Catherine Kacyvenski. Please take a moment to read our new leaders' welcome messages.

Mrs. Natalie Brubaker, Superintendent of Schools
I am honored to greet you in my new role of Superintendent of Schools, and humbled to begin my 23rd year of service at Susquehanna Valley.  For those of you whom I have not yet had the pleasure of meeting, I began my career as the Middle School Health Education teacher at Susquehanna Valley in 1999 (yes, some of my former students are now teachers here at SV or have their own children in school now)!  During my time as a teacher I was also a club advisor and softball coach.  After receiving my Administrative Certification, I took on the role of Assistant Principal at RTS Middle School in 2007.  In 2010, I was given the opportunity to serve as the building principal at Brookside Elementary, where I stayed for five wonderful years!  In 2015, I returned to RTS Middle School as the building principal.  Two years later, I moved to the District Office and served as the Assistant Superintendent of Schools for the next five years.  The experiences, knowledge and relationships that I gained through these 22 years have prepared me well for this next, and greatest challenge of my career.  I have been privileged to work alongside skilled and dedicated professionals and caring and giving families and students, and I pledge to continue to give the best of myself to the Susquehanna Valley community every day!

Ms. Catherine Kacyvenski,
Assistant Superintendent
It is an honor to be the new Assistant Superintendent of Susquehanna Valley Central School District. Twenty-three years ago, I started my career as an English Teacher in Atlanta.  I taught high school English in both Cobb County and Marietta City Schools, as well as led multiple school clubs and organizations.  During my last year as a teacher, I was a teacher on special assignment for school improvement.  During my time as a teacher, I earned my Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction, as well as my administrative certificate.  I then became an Assistant Principal at Marietta Sixth Grade Academy. I was in that role for five years prior to transitioning back to New York to be a Middle School Principal in Union Endicott for approximately three years.  I have spent the last six years at Chenango Forks Elementary School as the building principal.  As a lifelong learner, I am currently working on my Doctorate in Educational Leadership, Administration and Policy through Fordham University. Over my career, I have had the great privilege of learning and growing every step of the way through my relationships with students, families, faculty, and staff.  I look forward to continuing my career and building new relationships at Susquehanna Valley.
