Riding a Valentine's Day wave of love from a lot of supporters, the Susquehanna Valley Sabers girls basketball team carried its unbeaten season to a STAC Championship, defeating Elmira 66-45. In the Class B Sectionals, the Sabers bumped off Norwich 53-35 February 28 in the sectional semifinal. Saturday, March 3, the Lady Sabers train rolled over Owego 75-43 in the Section IV Final. On March 11, in the NYS quarterfinal game at the Floyd L. Maines Arena, the Sabers defeated Bishop Ludden (Section III) 47-35. The team was led by Maeve Donnelly’s 12 points and 12 rebounds, Holly Manchester’s floor leadership, and lock down defense from Trinasia Kennedy, Hannah Haskell, and Alexis Drake.
On March 16, the Sabers defeated Midlakes 60-48 in the Class B state championship semifinal. earning their spot in the championship game.
