SV students tour BOCES CTE programs
More than fifty Susquehanna Valley High School students were among the hundreds roaming the halls of Broome-Tioga BOCES' main Education Center the afternoon of March 1, for Career and Technical Excellence Visitation Day. Sabers students each chose three CTE program options to visit during their 90 minutes on the BOCES campus from a long list of possibilities: Auto Body, Costmetology, Culinary Arts, Business Management and Computer Careers, Masonry, Agricultural Science/Animal Science, Auto Tech, Building Trades and Plumbing, Electricity, General Automotive Services, Computer Aided Design (CAD), Criminal Justice, Heavy Equipment Repair and Operations (HERO), Welding, Graphics and Gaming Design, Health Science, Retail Warehousing, Hospitality, IT Specialist, CLean Energy/Battery Storage, and Video Production.

The idea is to expose students to career paths and opportunities in far more than an abstract way: to let them actually experience what it would be like to work in the fields they're exploring. In all, BOCES welcomed nearly 900 students from area schools in morning and afternoon session.
