Reaching for the stars at Brookside

Mr Pixley points to the moon

At the end of January, Brookside Elementary School students got to explore the stars without even going outside. They got to visit the Digidome, an inflatable mobile planetarium, set up and inflated in the school music suite. On the 30th and 31st, groups of students entered the inflatable planetarium to enjoy a half-hour presentation on the night sky, constellations and the basics of astronomy. Taking turns making the presentations: Susquehanna Valley High School teacher Mike Pixley and Brookside teacher Sheri Brewer. For most of the the younger students, this was their first-ever visit to a mobile planetarium, and you could tell by their excited reactions to the images being projected on the dome - the Sun, the moon, the planets, and illustrations of the ancient constellations. WE HAVE PHOTOS FROM OUTSIDE AND INSIDE THE DOME HERE!
