RTS Fun Day dedicated to health and wellness

students and teachers work on financial planning project

Wednesday, June 12 was Fun Day at Richard T. Stank Middle School! It was a day filled with special guests and presenters sharing with our students their expertise on health and wellness.

Keynote speaker Olympic powerlifter (and SV alumnus) Bill Clark got the day off to a great start with an uplifting and inspiring message for our students. He also demonstrated his amazing strength by bending a horseshoe, tearing a deck of cards in half (and then tearing the halves in half, too!), and ripping a license plate in half with his bare hands. Following Mr. Clark's motivational presentation the students headed off to a day filled with small group workshops and activities provided by several community organizations and businesses.

By the end of the day, among other things, students had learned and explored such things as composting, self-defense, the dangers of vaping and drunk driving, creating healthy snacks, creating healthy relationships, financial management, nutrition and urban ecology, stress management, animal and pet therapy, and movement as medicine.

Closing out the day, the students enjoyed a Fun Day presentation by Jared Campbell.
