Susquehanna Valley High School Class of 2024 Valedictorian Caroline Devendorf and Salutatorian Jimi Cook were among the guests of honor on June 20 at the 33rd Annual Broome-Tioga Scholastic Recognition Dinner.

Each year, the Broome-Tioga Chief School Administrators, with the generous support of Arcadis IBI Group, Coughlin & Gerhart LLP, and Day Automation, host this event to honor valedictorians and salutatorians from school districts across the region, celebrating their outstanding personal and scholastic achievements.

Caroline and Jimi, along with each of their peers, were presented with a special award designed by William Mihalko, a retired teacher from Harpursville Central School District. Commissioned in 1991, Mr. Mihalko's award design consists of a black acrylic base with three mounted tablets featuring the Lamp of Learning and motifs representing Broome and Tioga counties—a carousel for Broome County and a steam engine for Tioga County.

Caroline and Jimi were accompanied by their parents, SV Superintendent Natalie Brubaker, and SV High School Assistant Principal Zach Tarnowski.

This event underscores the importance of academic excellence and leadership, recognizing students who have demonstrated the ability to choose wisely, meet challenges, and succeed. The Broome-Tioga Chief School Administrators applaud these students' accomplishments and look forward to their future contributions to their professions and communities.
