The SV Computer Coding team of Marshall Clement, Zachary Fedorwich, Baron Keller, and Samuel Olsen won "Best Overall App" in the Broome-Tioga BOCES Regional App Challenge on March 27!
They began developing their app,"WellHatch," in January and had two months to build it from the ground up with support. WellHatch is designed to help people stay motivated along their fitness journey by giving the user a companion to grow alongside them, representing their personal growth. The user can grow their companion by answering questions about mental, physical or nutritional health and completing daily self-set goals. The user has a choice of four companions, a frog, bird, dinosaur, or snake, which all begin as an egg and develop over time as the user improves.
Together, Zach (lead programmer), Sam (lead designer/graphic artist), Marshall (lead information analyst), and Baron (lead media-management specialist) developed the concept on the first day. After concept creation, each team member split off to complete unique tasks and came together regularly to update one another. One obstacle they overcame was navigating from an iPhone to a Microsoft computer-based App, causing them to resize and move the buttons.

designed the "Best Overall App" in the BT BOCES App Challenge!
This challenge was a great learning experience for them. Already teammates as members of the Track & Field team, Zach, Sam, Marshall, and Baron had a competitive edge. The team looks forward to polishing the App and are strongly considering entering the Congressional App Challenge with their WellHatch app!
