SV to Offer Pre-K Program

After working for years toward implementation of a full day Pre-K program, The Susquehanna Valley School District is pleased to announce that we will launch the program in the 2017-18 school year! The budget approved by residents May 16 includes the necessary support for a full day Pre-K program at both Brookside Elementary School and Francis P. Donnelly Elementary School, and we couldn’t be more pleased.  This is something we have been wanting to offer our residents for a number of years and finally we are ready to go.

To be enrolled in SV’s first-ever Pre-K program, students must be four years of age as of September 7, 2017 - the first day of the 2017-2018 school year.  As a full day program, it will run on the same time schedule as the elementary schools: 8:50 a.m.-3:00 p.m.  There will be one classroom at Brookside and one at F. P. Donnelly, with one teacher and one aide in each classroom.  Transportation will follow the current elementary bus run schedules.

Both classrooms will have maximum capacity of eighteen (18) students.  If there are more than thirty-six (36) students enrolling, selection will be done by lottery drawing, as is common practice in every district offering Pre-K.  We will try to accommodate to the best of our ability parents’ requests for placement at Brookside or Francis P. Donnelly.  We will use the same process we currently use for enrolling children in BK and Kindergarten.
