REMINDER about May 26!

Because Susquehanna Valley, courtesy of “Snowicane” Stella, has exhausted our allotment of emergency closing days, Friday, May 26 will be a regular school day. That day had been scheduled to be a day off for students to begin the Memorial Day weekend, but is now a full day of instruction. We have not had to use any of the make-up days that are currently part of spring recess. However, if we have another emergency closing, the next scheduled make-up day is April 21.

BINGO for the Browns
A previously scheduled P.T.A. family event at Francis P. Donnelly Elementary School - BINGO and Books - underwent a transformation in the days following the tragic loss of 7 year old FPD second grader Connor Brown.  The event, Thursday, March 23, became BINGO for the Browns. It was a wonderful turnout for a family fun night of BINGO, prizes and raffles, with all proceeds to benefit Connor's family. Thank you to all who attended!
Remembering Connor Brown

The Susquehanna Valley School community mourns the loss of 7-year-old Connor Brown, a second grade student at Francis P. Donnelly Elementary School.  This young member of our Sabers family lost his life Sunday, March 19 after falling into the river behind his home on Stillwater Road, Conklin. Despite extensive rescue and resuscitation efforts, Connor could not be revived.

Our hearts are broken for the Brown family and their many friends throughout our district and beyond. Our district stands with the family and will do anything and everything we can to support them in this time of indescribable loss.

This young man had a lot of friends, teachers and staff that cared a great deal about him and his loss is going to be felt very deeply in our buildings. We have mobilized our Crisis Response Team – including grief counselors and social workers - to render whatever assistance is necessary to students and staff as they begin to come to terms with this tragedy.  Our primary thoughts are with the family and with Connor’s friends and classmates, teachers and staff who've been part of his all-too-short life.

We're certainly asking everyone to continue to send their thoughts and prayers to this family.
