Several dozen area middle school students were wearing their thinking caps December 7 as they converged for the annual Mathalon competition, held this year at The McKinley, Endicott. Susquehanna Valley's Richard T. Stank Middle School sent two 6th grade teams to the event - five members and two alternates each. Ten teams from a number of area middle schools competed in seven timed rounds, solving problems in the STEM fields (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math). Prizes were awarded to the top three teams.
The RTS Gold team: LilliOnna D’Introno, Amanat Dhillon, Giuliana Giammarino, Danica LaBarre, Olivia Kumpon, AnnaBell Youket, and Moira Whalen.
The RTS Blue team: Palmer Gendron, Seamus MacNamee, Gunner Farber, Samuel Olsen, Gavin Cole, Benjamin Finch, and Frank Palczynski.
BAE Systems in Endicott organized the event, created the questions, and graded the results.
