At FPD, generosity abounds
Dozens of children will have a little bit merrier Christmas this year, thanks to the generosity of Francis P. Donnelly staff, students and community residents. A recent Christmas drive for 15 F.P. Donnelly families met with tremendous success, thanks to local businesses and churches, and FPD staff that volunteered to "adopt" those families f the families and provide items on a "needs and wants" list for 48 children. The Christmas drive followed a very successful Thanksgiving campaign: a school-wide food drive that resulted in Thanksgiving baskets for 13 families. But the spirit of generosity, sharing and giving doesn't end with Thanksgiving and Christmas. In February 2019 we will start our second annual Food Drive on behalf of the Food Bank of the Southern Tier. Last year was our first year participating with the Food Bank and our goal last year was to bring in 300 items of food in a three week time period. By the end of the three weeks we had far surpassed that goal, with people in our community donating 1,237 items of food!
