Sabers prominent in unique video tour of Broome County
"There's a certain kind of grit that comes with being born in Broome County."
So begins the narration from UFC star Tamdan McCrory, opening a unique video tour of Broome County landmarks in BOXING THROUGH BROOME. This remarkable mini-movie, in just under two minutes, takes viewers on a visit to some of this area's most iconic locations, where students from Broome County Martial Arts are shown in dazzling, fast-paced training sequences with expert boxing coach - and SV staffer - Herman Tio.

Tio, with more than 20 years of experience at boxing gyms in Long Island, Las Vegas, and Greater Binghamton area coaching and providing private self defense training, is only one of several Sabers filmed fighting for their hometown. He's joined by Dan Kosick, a cancer survivor, amputee, Paralympian (1998 Nagano and 2020 Salt Lake City), World’s Tough Mudder Competitor, Merrel Outdoor Brand Ambassador and social worker for SV's Richard T. Stank Middle School. Also shown: Tio's son and SV graduate Kaiyu, now a 3rd year pre-med student. Jacque Kane, daughter of an SV teacher, is shown training at Recreation Park. Rounding out the featured fighters are Erick Ballard, owner of E-Class Barbering Experience in Binghamton, and Tamdan McCrory, mixed martial artist, UFC and Bellator Veteran, and owner of BCMA. Tamdan, whose children attend SV schools, also provides the voice-over narration. Boxing Through Broome was filmed and edited by SV art teacher and filmmaker Bassem Eldakar.

Tio said this is the first of two of these videos. He was pleased that WIVT NewsChannel 34 reported on the video. YOU CAN SEE THAT HERE.
