On Wednesday, February 3, RTS Middle School launched "Wellness Wednesdays" with a special Comedy Self-Care program via Zoom with presenter Pam Victor, a professional improviser, author, teacher, happiness coach, and founder and president of Happier Valley Comedy, the first and only comedy theater in Western Massachusetts. Pam uses improv training exercises to build foundational training skills such as communication, collaboration, creativity ... and happiness! Pam is the creator of Happier Valley Comedy’s self-care online program “The 30-Day Happiness Experiment." She is the author of “Baj and the Word Launcher: A Space-Aged Asperger Adventure in Communication,” a children’s chapter book that uses sci-fi to teach social and communication skills, and the co-author of “Improvisation at the Speed of Life: The TJ & Dave Book.” A graduate of Smith College with a Master’s in Education from Iona College, Pam has taught students from pre-K to adults in a variety of subjects, including as a classroom headteacher for K-2.

Also, on Wednesdays in late February and March, we will be creating a three-hour Wellness Event for each grade level to participate in separately.  On 2/24, 5th grade will participate in Yoga, Virtual Escape Rooms, Team Trivia, Terrarium construction, and numerous fun events in the SVHS Pool. On 3/3, the 4th and 6th grades will have their three-hour blocks (4th from 8:00 am-11:00 am, 6th from 11:15 am-2:15 pm), and then 7th & 8th grade will participate on the afternoons of 3/10 and 3/17 (11:15 am-2:15 pm).

We are looking forward to creating these positive opportunities to enjoy each other's company in a safe, structured environment.
