Volleyball tournament shines light on important issues
team bumblebees
The competition may have been fierce, but the focus was on the mission. Awareness was the name of the game during the March 9 Volley for Mental Health and Suicide Awareness Tournament sponsored by the SV High School Peer Leaders. Thirteen teams participated in the volleyball tournament while being cheered on by friends and family in the SV High gymnasium.

The setting, spiking, blocking and kills might have come with the immediate intention of winning matches, but ultimately, the entire tournament was focused on increasing awareness of mental health and suicide prevention. In the fierce but friendly competition, one team remained undefeated! Hats off to the tournament champions:  Emma Aton, Miley Urso, Trevor Hamm, Jordan Denney, Kaylab Stewart and Mason Karns. RTS Middle School Science teacher Michael Henderson served as DJ for the night, keeping the tunes going. When students weren't playing, they were enjoying walking tacos and cookies made by Mrs. Denney. Thanks to Mrs. Dowd for the photos!
