Another Sabers sports season, more Scholar Athletes to celebrate
Want to hear something amazing?
It just so happens that ALL SIX of our varsity athletic teams this spring have qualified to represent Susquehanna Valley as NYSPHSAA Scholar Athlete Teams!  A special accomplishment, indeed!

Here are teams that qualified and their grade point averages:
Girls Track: 90.4
Baseball: 90.6
Boys Track: 91.4
Softball: 92.4
Flag Football: 92.8
Boys Tennis: 94.4

And, oh - by the way - it's the THIRD sports season in a row that SV's varsity teams have managed this accomplishment. Nine SV Varsity teams qualified as Scholar Athlete Teams in the Fall Sports season, and 3 Sabers teams qualified in the Winter Sports season.

At the end of each sports season, the New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) honors those teams and individuals that excel in the classroom. Those student-athletes, teams, and schools work very hard throughout the year and deserve to be recognized for their academic success.

To receive Scholar-Athlete team recognition with a certificate, the team's average GPA for 75% of the roster must be greater than or equal to 90.00. This means you take 75% of your roster and then average their GPAs. Any GPA can be included, but if it is below a 90, they will not receive a pin. If a team DOES NOT meet the Scholar-Athlete Team Criteria, the individuals on that team with a 90.00 or above GPA are still eligible to receive a pin and will be considered an Individual Scholar-Athlete.
