Field Trips to Binghamton University a Science Bonanza for SV 4th Graders
girl's hair reacts to static electricityThis could be the start of a very exciting partnership! 4th grade students from Susquehanna Valley's Brookside Elementary School and Francis P. Donnelly Elementary School recently enjoyed what can best be described as not your average field trips to Binghamton University. The May 19 and May 24 visits provided our students with hands-on learning experiences in Neuroscience, Archeology, Earth Science, and Physics, and even included work in the B-U Green House. Our students' tour guides, Binghamton University professors and grad students, immersed our 4th graders in a variety of interesting labs and lessons. In a follow up message, Rachel Coker, Director of Research Advancement, thanked teachers Matt Steflik and Amy Hanrahan for bringing "your bright and inquisitive fourth-graders to visit us at Binghamton University" and expressed hope of arranging future visit. She also kindly shared photos from our students' visits! PHOTOS HERE
