Talented young sabers shine at NYSSMA and BCMEA Festivals
Our world is filled with the beautiful sounds of music made by people whose names are widely known, and they all had to start somewhere. From time to time, you will hear a household name musician trace the spark of their lifelong love of music - and their career - to participating in elementary, middle and high school ensembles. Will the next big name in music someday give credit to Susquehanna Valley for introducing them to the joy of making music?
Perhaps that future household name was playing or singing at one of the three Broome County Music Educators Association (BCMEA) music festivals hosted this year at Binghamton University's Anderson Center, where top notch Susquehanna Valley CSD music students auditioned their way to a spot on the stage.
The March 25 and 26 festival featured performances from Grade 5 and 6 Band, Grade 7-9 Orchestra, Grade 10-12 Chorus, and Grade 10-12 Jazz Band. Susquehanna Valley students (pictured above) who participated: Averie Andres, Johnathan Armstrong, Jocelyn Brusso, Kennedi Gardinor, Elizabeth Newby, Trey Parker, Stella Baker, James Root, Aiden Ruffo, and Christopher Streno.
