SV Seniors earn Eagle Scout rank

We want to share a belated “congratulations” to SV High School seniors Andrew Waite and Elijah Valentine, who earned the rank of Eagle Scout in November and December 2024, respectively! Their Eagle Scout Courts of Honor were on Jan. 25 and Feb. 1.

Elijah and Andrew both joined Boy Scouts* Troop 83 in April 2018. They accrued numerous achievements and awards during their scouting journey. Andrew has earned Bronze and Gold Eagle Palms, a National Outdoor Achievement Award for Camping, and 34 merit badges. Elijah’s awards include the Otahnagon Lodge Don O’Brien Arrowman of the Year, as well as Bronze, Gold, & Silver Eagle Palms. He has earned a total of 37 merit badges.

Their Eagle Scout projects, completed during the summer, both beautified Kirkwood River Park. Andrew constructed three handicapped picnic tables and installed a BBQ grill. Elijah also built three handicapped picnic tables and then installed a bluestone patio.

In addition to their projects, Andrew and Elijah earned 21 merit badges in the areas of leadership, service, and outdoor skills. Eagle Scout is the highest rank attainable in the Scouts BSA program of Scouting America. Since its inception in 1911, only four percent of Scouts have earned this rank after a lengthy review process!
