Area All-State Festivals have a junior high level for students in grades 7 - 9, and a high school level for students in grades 10 - 12. These Honors ensembles are made up of the top musicians throughout NYSSMA (New York State School Music Association) Zone 3, which includes students from Broome, Cayuga, Tioga, Cortland, Onondaga, and Tompkins Counties. Students are selected by their NYSSMA Solo Performance scores and are given about one month to prepare on their own. Next, the student musicians rehearse as a Band, Orchestra, and Chorus for only two days before presenting a fantastic concert for their families and teachers!

The Junior High Festival took place in early November at Homer High School, while the Senior High Festival was hosted at Ithaca College the weekend of Jan. 31/Feb. 1.
