Brookside says THANK YOU to veterans!

brookside students with veterans day stars

Brookside Elementary School students and staff wanted to do something special to mark Veterans Day, honoring the commitment and sacrifice of military veterans past and present. Along with a line of flags leading to the main entrance, Brookside has set up a place of honor along the wall in the foyer. There, visitors will find a White Table and student-made tributes to their family members who are veterans.

The White Table has become an important part of Veterans Day remembrances across America. In the book America's White Table, by Margot Theis Raven, illustrated by Mike Benny, the White Table is described as "a symbol for and remembrance to service members fallen, missing, or held captive in the line of duty. Solitary and solemn, it is the table where no one will ever sit." On a visit to the Veterans Day display, students Frances Boyle, Samantha Luce, Kaylee Sturek, Ava Wilcox, Kennedy Gallagher, Nova Davis, and Madelyn Finney showed the honor stars they created for members of their families who've served. A special thank you to Mrs. Hanrahan for arranging the visit with the students. MORE PHOTOS HERE. CLICK HERE or HERE to learn more about the history of America's White Table.
