An update from AD Ed Swartwout

I wanted to pass along some exciting news as we wind down another year of SABER athletics!
Senior boys varsity tennis player, Isaac Spottek, along with Coach Anthony Ruffo, left this morning (May 30) for the NYS Boys Tennis Championships which are being held at the Billie Jean King Tennis Center in Flushing, NY. This marks the 3rd year in a row that Isaac has won a Section IV Class C Singles Championship which has qualified him to represent SV in the State Championship Tournament.

The varsity softball team claimed a Section IV Class B Championship last weekend defeating Elmira Heights 7-0 to win the title!! The team, coached by Karen Bidwell, Ken Bidwell and Ray Haskell, now enters the NYS Tournament and will play a regional final May 31 at BAGSAI against Section III champion, Marcellus. First pitch will be at 5:00pm.  Tickets are available using the following link:

SABER senior Johnny Cortese participated May 29 at UE high school in the NYS Qualifier Track and  Field meet. Johnny set a new school record in the 400m hurdles with a time of 57.46 seconds!! Impressive indeed!! Johnny's performance has earned him a spot at the NYS Track and Field Championships to be held at Cicero North Syracuse High School next Friday night! Congrats to Johnny and to his coaches, Grace Tabeek, Kellyn Chapman, Matt Schneider and Eric Holmberg.
