Artists and musicians share spotlight
string quartet plays a mozart pieceVisitors browsing the exhibited art pieces adorning the walls of the SV High School main entrance corridor surely had to keep reminding themselves that these are the works of high school students: such was the level of talent showcased Thursday, June 7 during the spring music and arts fest. Students of art teachers Joyce Russell and Jeff Renner spent this school year creating some memorable pieces, and many of them were more than happy to pose for photos next to their works. Astoundingly, the talent displayed with cameras, brushes, pencils and paints was just the beginning: a good many of those student artists took the stage in the auditorium as members of our music ensembles. The concert offered fine performances from the Jazz Ensemble, Select Chorus, Percussion Ensemble, Chamber Orchestra, Full Orchestra, Concert Chorus and Concert Band. Of special note was a thrilling performance by the Saber String Quartet, comprised of violinists Hope Savercool and Emma Zelenyak, cellist Maxwell Henry and Mrs. Eileen Miller on viola. Their take on a Mozart classic was world class. Thank you to all who attended. PHOTOS HERE.
