RTS students take in Engineers Day at Lockheed Martin
March 22 was a pretty big day for a group of Richard T. Stank Middle School 8th-grade students. Guidance Counselor Krista Shoemaker took the crew to Lockheed Martin for Engineers Day 2024. Among other things, students were able to see how parts are installed in helicopters, "fly" a helicopter in the simulator, build a "safe box" for an egg drop demonstration, and use uncooked spaghetti and gumdrops to build a bridge to see how much weight it can hold. These are all demonstrations of engineering, and the students learned a lot while having a great time.
