Richard Buchanan earns spot in nationals

At the New York State Track and Field Championships, held at the University at Albany June 12 and 13,  Susquehanna Valley's Richard Buchanan once again broke his school record in the 1600 Meters. His time of 4 minutes and 12.5 seconds earned him a second place finish in Class D2 and a sixth place finish in the New York State Federation.

As a result of his time, Richard qualified to participate in the New Balance Outdoor Nationals, held at North Carolina A&T State University, in Greensboro, North Carolina. Richard ran the 1-mile course in 4:37.78 and finished 22nd.

Sunday, June 21 in Greensboro, NC, Richard Buchanan concluded his outstanding track and field career at Susquehanna Valley.  Participating in the Boy's One Mile Championship, Richard competed in the New Balance Outdoor Nationals, held on the campus of North Carolina A&T State University.
With a race time temperature of 95, Richard finished in 22nd place (4:37.78).  This coming fall, he will take his running skills to Cornell University, where he will be a member of the cross country and track and field teams, while pursuing a career in medicine.  Good luck, Richard!!!
