SV Hosts ConnectED Conference

March 11 was a superintendent’s conference day for most of our area school districts, providing professional development opportunities for teachers, administrators and other staff.  Several hundred education professionals gathered at Susquehanna Valley High School for the Southern Tier ConnectEd Conference, an event designed to help educators “connect, collaborate, create and communicate” in a way that enhances student learning through effective use of technology in the classroom. The goal is to get students learning through creating and collaborating with technology.

The keynote speaker was A.J. Juliani, author of “Learning By Choice” (a #1 bestseller on Amazon) and “Inquiry and Innovation in the Classroom: Using 20%Time, Genius Hour, and PBL to Drive Student Success.”  His address was titled “Inquiry and Innovation in the Classroom: Empowering Students with Choice and Technology.”

Throughout the day, educators made their way from one workshop session to another, learning new and innovate ways to incorporate emerging and growing technology in today's modern classrooms. The conference is co-sponsored by Broome-Tioga BOCES, the New York State Association for Computers and Technology in Education, and the New York State Teacher Centers.
