On March 14, several Susquehanna Valley High School students took home ribbons from the “Young at Art” show and competition presented by the Fine Arts Society of the Southern Tier (FASST). Over 125 local high school students participated in this year’s show, with only 22 awards given out. SV students who were honored this year were:
Andrew Gaffney (pictured at left) - 1st place in the Mixed Media category for The Lonesome Wanderer
Sophia Kilmer - 2nd place in the Painting category, for Falling Apart
Kelly Cady - 3rd place in the Sculpture category, for Blue Armadillo
Other SV students whose works were also selected for inclusion in the show:
Danielle Duke, Sophia Pappas, Dominick Russell and Canyi Zuo.
On April 6 (First Friday downtown), Christ Episcopal Church in Binghamton hosted an exhibition of Susquehanna Valley senior art students’ work. Students were responsible for choosing their best artwork to display, and prepare it to be gallery-ready. Participants included select seniors from the Photography, Sculpture, and BCC Fast Forward Painting classes. Seniors whose work was displayed on First Friday: Kelly Cady, Danielle Charlton, Danielle Duke, Andrew Gaffney, Sophia Kilmer, Sophia Pappas, Dominick Russell, and Canyi Zuo.
Young artists' works to be displayed at DaVinci Festival
A number of works from art students at Brookside Elementary School will be exhibited at this year's DaVinci Festival Student Art Show at the Broome County Library, 185 Court St., Binghamton. The Art Show opening reception is Saturday, May 5, 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m., with the exhibit running through May 26 during regular library hours (Monday through Thursday, 9:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. and Fridays and Saturdays, 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Brookside students whose are will be displayed are:
