Long-Awaited Susquehanna Valley History Book Ready

The Susquehanna Valley School District held a well attended formal dedication ceremony for its much anticipated history book May 3. The 90-page book contains more than 220 photographs chronicling the history of the Susquehanna Valley School District from the late 1940's through centralization, right through the turn of the century. Gail Goldberg authored the book, with assistance from a team of Susquehanna Valley residents, staff and board members. The book is dedicated to the district's first superintendent, Francis P. Donnelly, for whom one of the district's elementary schools is named. Mr. Donnelly was present at the dedication ceremony, signing dozens of books. Master of Ceremonies was retired superintendent Richard T. Stank. The SV History Book is now available at the Susquehanna Valley District Office, 1040 Conklin Road, Conklin, as well as the main offices in each of our school buildings. Copies are also for sale in the Town of Binghamton and Town of Conklin Clerks' offices and at the Helene Yelverton Dance Studio, Conklin. The book sells for $12.00 plus $2.25 shipping and handling for copies requested by mail. Profits from the sale of the book benefit the SV Scholarship Foundation - Dollars for Scholars. For more information on obtaining a copy, contact Mary Rader (607) 724-3564.
