Facilities and Capital Project Advisory Committee
Minutes from September 18, 2006 meeting
The group agreed that the meetings should be no longer than 2 hours long.
The reconfiguration K-2, 3-5 topic does not have a deadline/timeline. The Program Advisory Committee will look at it for the first half of the year. It does not seem imminent for 2007-2008.
Questions regarding why have the sub-committees for the Program Committee:
Cindy Manchester said that Jan Young said there would be further discussion at their meeting on September 25.
Mary Rader said that a list of the Program Committee subcommittees should go to the Board.
Use of Cedarhurst:
--There have been incorrect reports circulated in the public about closing the center on September 15.
--The committee considered Holly Finch's and Sue Sutton's request to keep the center open until December 1. The committee will recommend this to the Board. There was further discussion about a timeline for consolidation and closure.
--Mary Rader reported that there had been an announcement in church about the limited usage of the center.
--Other groups have shown interest in the use of Cedarhurst: Head Start, a realtor, and a Kirkwood Church.
--There was further discussion about a timeline for the closure of the relief center.
--RE: Records storage: we should be sure about moisture control, etc.
We need to find out about the grant cycle from the State Archives.
We need to know the square footage necessary for records storage.
We should find out about FERPA regulations.
We need to know the Rogers costs.
--We should check the zoning of Cedarhurst.
--The committee should consider a walk-through.
--Can we/should we consider leasing out the building?
We should consider the feasibility study regarding whether or not to do building project and if so, what kind?
Ken asked if we should take a position regarding moving forward on an energy performance project.
