MINUTES OF MEETING

Facilities and Capital Improvement Committee

(Jointly with Budget Advisory Committee)

July 21, 2008

Present: BCK representatives, Fiscal Advisors representative, Jerry Derrick, Don Gerlach, Joe Kolanda, Chris Miller, Mary Rader, Ralph Schuldt, Dr. Renee Stalma, Gerardo Tagliaferri and Janice Young.

* Meeting focus is to debrief on July 10 board presentation.

* Extensive discussion on changes associated with cost allowances.

* BCK distributed Project Potential Aid summary, reviewing potential changes in state aid and local share. The review showed a significant increase in the local share. Fiscal Advisors and BCK reviewed information and explained causal factors, including costs associated with scope of site work; items like paving, sidewalks, curbs and lighting (work that is done outside the buildings).

* Group explored options to reduce the local share; BCK and Fiscal Advisors are to review options and report back to the committee.

* At next meeting, BCK and Fiscal Advisors will provide updates on overall costs, local share, potential aid and debt service.

* Group discusses need to focus attention on informing the public/promoting the work that needs to be done.

Next meeting of the FAC is July 31, 2008, 6:00 p.m.
