MINUTES                                            ANNUAL MEETING AND VOTE                     

of the                                                                         of the                                                      

SUSQUEHANNA VALLEY CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT

Held in the Senior High School Gymnasium

Conklin, New York, County of Broome

 

                                                                                                                       

Mr. Kenneth Goldberg, Chairperson of the meeting, welcomed those present and called the meeting to order at 11:55 a.m.

 

Mr. Angelo Ranieri, Chief Inspector; the clerks and inspectors; Mr. Mark Gorgos, Legal Advisor to the Board; and Mr. Goldberg completed inspection of the voting machines.

 

Mr. Goldberg stated that the Board of Education designated Angelo Ranieri as Chief Inspector of Elections and Nancy Mangino as Alternate Chief Inspector.  Mr. Goldberg asked for a motion allowing for appointment of additional inspectors of election and/or assistant clerks as necessary.  Mrs. Jean Terry made a motion, seconded by Mrs. Katharine Kane, allowing the Chair to appoint election officials as needed.  Upon vote the motion was approved unanimously.

 

At  12:00 p.m. the polls were declared open by Mr. Goldberg.

At  8:55 p.m. Mr. Goldberg asked that anyone wanting to vote be in line to sign the poll list and complete their vote. 

Everyone present completed their vote.

At 9:00 p.m. Mr. Goldberg declared the polls closed.

The poll list was tallied.  Four books registered a total of  1894.

The machine counters (#130135, #173854. #61376, and #63861) read a total of 1894.

 

The number of votes cast:

      Budget        YES 941         NO – 911

Board Candidates:

      Raymond Storm – 855      Donna Pflanz-May – 802     Mary Jane Paske – 688     Janice Young – 861           

      Christine Moriarty – 824

Proposition – Student Board Member              YES – 1087      NO – 578

 

There were 14 absentee ballots, one was disallowed for not having an application, one was disallowed for no

signature on the envelope.  The absentee ballots were opened and tallied:

      Budget        YES 1            NO – 11

      Raymond Storm – 5      Donna Pflanz-May – 6     Mary Jane Paske – 5     Janice Young – 4            

      Christine Moriarty – 8

      Proposition – Student Board Member        YES – 6           NO – 6

 

There were write-in votes for Board seats.  The results were tallied:

      Jerry Wheelock – 7         Suzanne Vimislik – 50

 

OFFICIAL RESULTS:

BUDGET – ($29,368,401)                  YES 942              NO – 922                  BUDGET WAS APPROVED

Board Candidates:

      Raymond Storm – 860      Donna Pflanz-May – 808     Mary Jane Paske – 693     Janice Young – 865           

      Christine Moriarty – 832          Jerry Wheelock – 7        Suzanne Vimislik - 50

Raymond Storm, Janice Young, and Christine Moriarty are elected as members of the Board of Education for a full term of  three (3) years, commencing July 1, 2006 and ending June 30, 2009.

Mr. Goldberg adjourned the meeting at 9:43 p.m.
