MINUTES                                            ANNUAL MEETING AND VOTE                     

of the                                                                         of the                                                      

SUSQUEHANNA VALLEY CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT

Held in the Senior High School Auditorium

Conklin, New York, County of Broome

 

 

Mrs. Jean Terry, Chairperson of the meeting, welcomed those present and called the meeting to order at 11:55 a.m.

 

Mr. Angelo Ranieri, Chief Inspector; the clerks and inspectors; Mr. Mark Gorgos, Legal Advisor to the Board; and Mrs. Terry completed inspection of the voting machines.

 

Mrs. Terry stated that the Board of Education designated Angelo Ranieri as Chief Inspector of Elections and Nancy Mangino as Alternate Chief Inspector. Mrs. Terry asked for a motion allowing for appointment of additional inspectors of election and/or assistant clerks as necessary. Mr. Angelo Ranieri made a motion, seconded by Mr. Richard Stank, allowing the Chair to appoint election officials as needed. Upon vote the motion was approved unanimously.

 

At 12:00 p.m. the polls were declared open by Mrs. Terry.

At 8:55 p.m. Mrs. Terry asked that anyone wanting to vote be in line to sign the poll list and complete their vote.

Everyone present completed their vote.

At 9:00 p.m. Mrs. Terry declared the polls closed.

The poll list was tallied. Three books registered a total of 1281.

The machine counters (#164535 and #173159) read a total of 1281.

The number of votes cast:

      Budget        YES – 593         NO – 630

Board Candidates:

      Mary Haskell – 770 Willis Vermilya – 363 John Finch – 292 Holly Finch – 252 Kevin McGuigan – 715

      Donna Pflanz-May – 397 John Pollock – 451

 

There were 10 absentee ballots. The absentee ballots were opened and tallied:

      Budget        YES – 8            NO – 2

      Mary Haskell – 5 Willis Vermilya – 4 John Finch – 3 Holly Finch – 0 Kevin McGuigan – 6

      Donna Pflanz-May – 3 John Pollock – 4

 

OFFICIAL RESULTS:

BUDGET – ($28,819,389)                  YES – 601              NO – 632              BUDGET WAS DEFEATED

Board Candidates:

      Mary Haskell – 775 Willis Vermilya – 367 John Finch – 295 Holly Finch – 252 Kevin McGuigan – 721

      Donna Pflanz-May – 400 John Pollock – 455

      Mary Haskell, Kevin McGuigan, and John Pollock are elected as members of the Board of Education for a full term of

three (3) years, commencing July 1, 2005 and ending June 30, 2008..

 

Mrs. Terry adjourned the meeting at 9:15 p.m.
